If you make a positive decision, there is an important point to consider, that is whether or not your helicopter school is FAA certified or not. This certification ensures a higher level of instruction and less time required to achieve your helicopter pilot's certificate.

There are 6 different levels of helicopter ratings: Private, Commercial, Instrument, Flight Instructor, and ATP. To start the training you will need a current medical certificate from a certified physician.

Helicopter Flight School

However, studying in a helicopter school can be extremely expensive. Expect to spend about $1,000 to $2,000 weekly. Besides, there are not many helicopter flight schools, so if you are not living in a state that has one, you will need to move for at least a year.

In order to get a certificate, you must be able to pass a written exam, an oral exam, and a flight test. Also, you must be already 17 years old. It is not required that you've ever flown a plane before, though some aircraft experience can be helpful.
